Ambassador Li Daoyu was the longest serving Chinese Ambassador to United States. He served as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador (vice-ministerial level) of China, as well as the international section chief of the foreign ministry. From 1990 to 1993, he was the delegate and Ambassador to United Nation. From 1993 to 1998, Li served as the PRC's ambassador to the United States. Ambassador Li was a member of the National People's Congress from 1998 until his retirement in 2004.
